Captain William Troost-Ekong announced the decision on Instagram, citing threats to their lives, unsafe travel conditions, and poor treatment.
The team was stranded at Al Abraq Airport for 12 hours after their flight was diverted from Benghazi Airport.
The Nigerian Football Federation confirmed the decision, stating that the team would fly back home.
The match was scheduled for Tuesday as part of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
Libyan authorities allegedly diverted the team’s flight and refused to accommodate Nigerian air crew members in nearby hotels.
