11 PDP Govs Challenge Fubara’s Suspension Before Supreme Court

Eleven PDP governors have filed a suit at the Supreme Court challenging President Bola Tinubu’s authority to suspend elected officials and impose emergency rule in Rivers State.

The governors argue that Tinubu’s March 18 suspension of Governor Fubara, his deputy, and the State Assembly—replacing them with a sole administrator—is unconstitutional.

The states involved include Adamawa, Enugu, Osun, Oyo, Bauchi, Akwa Ibom, Plateau, Delta, Taraba, Zamfara, and Bayelsa. They are asking the court to determine whether the President has the legal power to interfere with state governance structures under the guise of an emergency.

The suit, filed through their Attorneys General, cites multiple constitutional provisions and challenges the legality and federalism implications of the President’s actions.
