BONA NAIJAThe ongoing feud between controversial Nigerian singer Portable (Habeeb Okikiola Badmus) and outspoken social media activist VeryDarkMan has intensified, with both parties now trading insults through diss tracks and viral videos.
The online drama, which has spanned several days, started after Portable lashed out at VeryDarkMan for criticizing President Bola Tinubu. The singer, a vocal supporter of the current administration, condemned the activist’s repeated online attacks on the government, accusing him of spreading negativity and exploiting national issues for clout.
One of Portable’s major grievances was VeryDarkMan’s continued commentary on the late singer Mohbad’s case, which Portable claimed the activist was using to gain attention without offering real solutions. He insisted that justice had not been served and questioned VeryDarkMan’s intentions.
In retaliation, VeryDarkMan fired back with a diss track titled “Ole”—the Yoruba word for “thief”—ridiculing Portable for past theft allegations. The activist also resurfaced a 2020 viral video that purportedly showed Portable being assaulted by a mob for allegedly stealing a phone and a tricycle—an accusation Portable has publicly denied multiple times.
Not one to back down, Portable responded by sharing an alleged private video of VeryDarkMan, which he claimed revealed compromising moments. Though the contents remain unverified, the clip has sparked a fresh wave of controversy and online backlash.
As of the time of this report, VeryDarkMan has yet to respond to Portable’s latest attack. However, the exchange has stirred heated reactions across social media, with fans and critics taking sides in what many now describe as a battle of clout over cause.
Observers say this public clash reflects the increasingly blurred line between activism and entertainment in Nigeria’s online space.
