Former Vice Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has commemorated the International Day of the Girl Child with a visit to Holy Rosary Secondary School in Nsugbe, Anambra State.

During the visit on October 6, Obi pledged ₦120 million to support the educational and health initiatives of the Holy Rosary sisters, with ₦20 million allocated specifically to the school.

Obi emphasized the importance of girls’ education, stating that educated girls grow into empowered women who contribute significantly to their communities, breaking cycles of poverty and inequality.

He reiterated his commitment to supporting initiatives that ensure access to quality education for every girl, aligning with this year’s theme, “Girls’ Vision for the Future.”

“This day serves as a reminder of the vital need to invest in girls’ education, which is essential for societal progress,” Obi said.

Obi plans to visit other girls’ schools in the coming weeks to continue celebrating the International Day of the Girl Child.
