In a surprise move, former President Olusegun Obasanjo met with First Lady Oluremi Tinubu on Monday, just 48 hours after he was seen wearing a cap with President Bola Tinubu’s insignia.

According to the First Lady’s Media Aide, Busola Kukoyi, Obasanjo visited the First Lady to felicitate with her on the Sallah Celebration. Kukoyi shared photos of the meeting, which showed Obasanjo and the First Lady in a cordial conversation.

This development comes as a surprise given the political differences between Obasanjo and the Tinubu administration. During the 2023 presidential election, Obasanjo supported the Labour Party’s Peter Obi, despite Tinubu’s efforts to secure his endorsement.

Obasanjo has also been critical of the Tinubu administration’s policies and actions, including its handling of reforms and the coup in Niger Republic. However, his decision to wear a cap with Tinubu’s insignia and meet with the First Lady suggests a possible thawing of relations between the two leaders.

BONA NAIJA REPORTS that the meeting between Obasanjo and the First Lady has sparked interest and speculation among political observers, who are watching to see if this marks a new direction in their relationship.
