NPA Re-elects Chief Uchenna Cyril Anioke as President

Delegates to the 2022 Annual General meeting of the Nigerian Publishers Association have unanimously re-elected Chief Uchenna Cyril, PhD as President for a second term.

The election was held Friday, the 25th of November, 2022 at the Rock View(Royale) Hotels, Abuja.

Announcing the results, the electoral committee chairman and also the Director, Babcock University PRESS, Dr Samuel Okere said, Dr Anioke was returned unopposed because, as at close of return of nomination forms, no other person had returned any nomination form to the electoral body.

He stated that Dr Anioke and his entire executive council members were all returned unopposed.

According to him”The results of the elections were eloquent testimonies to Dr Anioke’s uncommon achievements during his first tenure.”

” This is because, as at the close of return of nomination forms, no other person returned his or hers to the electoral committee “

” The massive support and unity expressed was very welcoming and what I see is a prove of trust and belief in Dr Anioke’s ability to lead “

However, Others elected included: Alhaji Lukeman Dauda of Evans Publishers Plc, as Vice President; Chief Austin Onwubiko, Mangaing Director of Africana First Publishers , as Deputy President, East; Dr Tahir Abdullaziz of Global Publishers, as Deputy President North and Mrs Folashade Shinkaiye of Sterling Books Nigeria,
as Deputy President, West.
The former president of NPA,. Mr Gbadega Adedapo of Accessible publishers Limited, as ex-0fficio member.

In his acceptance speech, Dr Anioke dedicated his victory to God Almighty.

He assured his members and the world at large, that, the Nigerian Publishers Association will be taken to enviable heights.

Dr Anioke enjoined the delegates and members of the Association to look forward to a repositioned NPA in the coming weeks.

According to him “I give God all the glory for making this exercise a smooth one”

“NPA has always been a developmental organisation with dedicated members.”

“In weeks to come, a lot of changes will begin to manifest ;all geared towards strengthening our work and the society”

“For a start, various standing and and hoc committees will be set up before the 15th of December. ” 2022

“I encourage all our members to accept any duty assigned as a call for service and thus, work vigorously to deliver”.
