Nigerian billionaire industrialist Olorogun Oskar Ibru, chairman of the Ibru Organisation, has died at the age of 67 after a brief illness, his family said on Wednesday.

Ibru, the eldest son of late business mogul Michael Ibru, played a key role in sustaining and expanding the family’s conglomerate, which spans shipping, oil and gas, real estate and commerce.

He was one of the most prominent heirs of the Ibru dynasty, regarded as one of Nigeria’s most influential business families. His death comes less than a decade after the passing of his father in 2016.

Details of funeral arrangements are expected to be announced later, the family said.
