The Nigerian basketball teams have dropped the final list of the players to represent the country at the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.
The Nigerian basketball teams have dropped the final list of the players to represent the country at the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.
Both male (D’Tigers) and female (D’Tigress) on Tuesday 20th of July 2021 released the final list of those to represent Nigeria in the basketball category at the Olympics.
For the male team, head coach Mike Brown, selected Miami Heat’s trio of Nnamdi Gabe Vincent, KZ Okpala, and Precious Achiuwa. Josh Okogie (Minnesota Timberwolves) and Jahlil Okafor (Detroit Pistons) also made the cut.
Also, Miye Oni (Utah Jazz), Jordan Nwora (Milwaukee Bucks), Caleb Agada (Hapoel Be’er Sheva), Obi Emegano (Fuenlabrada, Spain), Chimezie Metu (Sacramento Kings), Ekpe Udoh (Virtus Bologna, Italy) and Ike Nwamu (Samara, Russia) all made the team.
For the female team, head coach Otis Hughley selected, Adaora Elonu, Aisha Balarabe, Elizabeth Balogun, Promise Amukamara, and Atonye Nyingifa.
Ezinne Kalu, Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpannah, Ify Ibekwe, Oderah Chidom, Victoria Macaulay, Erica Ogwumike, and Amy Okonkwo were all selected as well.
D’Tigers are to face Italy, Australia and Germany in the group stage, while the D’Tigress are grouped against the USA, France and Japan.
