In a decisive operation aimed at protecting civilian lives during the Eid celebrations, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has launched a series of precision airstrikes that destroyed terrorist hideouts and thwarted a planned attack in Borno State.
According to a statement released by NAF Spokesman, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the strikes were carried out between June 5 and 6, 2025, under the ongoing Operation HADIN KAI.
The targeted strikes hit Tumbumma Baba and Chiralia in the Southern Tumbuns region—areas known to be strongholds of Boko Haram terrorists. Acting on credible intelligence, NAF aircraft struck key structures believed to be used for logistics, storage, and coordination of insurgent operations.
“Battle damage assessments confirmed the neutralisation of several terrorists and the destruction of key logistics structures,” Ejodame stated.
He added that the pre-emptive strikes disrupted what intelligence reports described as a coordinated plan to attack Eid gatherings and instill fear in civilian populations during the festive period.
Photographs released by the NAF show the aftermath of the airstrikes, with destroyed bunkers and smoldering terrorist camps, reinforcing the military’s intensified efforts against insurgents in Nigeria’s North-East.
Air Commodore Ejodame emphasized that this operation highlights the Nigerian Air Force’s unwavering commitment to national security and its proactive role in preventing attacks before they occur.
“These actions demonstrate our resolve to safeguard civilian lives and maintain peace during important national and religious occasions,” he added.
As Operation HADIN KAI continues, the military has urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security forces, assuring them of continued protection during and beyond the festive season.
