Los Angeles FC Takes Lead in CONCACAF Champions Cup Quarterfinals with 1-0 Win Over Messi’s Inter Miami

Nathan Ordaz’s impressive 24-yard shot in the 56th minute secured a 1-0 win for Los Angeles FC over Inter Miami in the opening leg of their CONCACAF Champions Cup quarterfinal series. The two-game, total-goal series will conclude on April 9 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Ordaz’s goal came after he received a pass from Mark Delgado, drove forward, and delivered a low shot past Miami goalie Oscar Ustari. LAFC had a chance to double their lead, but Miami defender Maximiliano Falcon blocked a shot by Timothy Tillman on the goal line.
Los Angeles goalie Hugo Lloris made three saves, including two impressive stops on attempts by Lionel Messi. The winner of this series will face either Pumas UNAM or the Vancouver Whitecaps in the semifinals.
In another quarterfinal series, Pumas UNAM drew 1-1 with the Vancouver Whitecaps. Adalberto Carrasquilla scored the tying goal in the 87th minute, volleying home a corner kick from Leo Suarez. The two-leg series will conclude on April 9 in Mexico City.
