LEIS Caution AFIT, others over defamatory publication

The attention of LEIS LAW CLINIC, Counsel to Prof. Tyoor Fredrick M. Terhemba has been drawn to the malicious and defamatory publications in two national dailies, to wit: pages 37 of the Nation and 35 of the Daily Trust, both published on Tuesday December 11, 2020 wherein the hard earned Professorship of Tyoor, Fredrick M Terhemba, Ph.D, FIAMN, FIAGP, FCFIP, FAI, CPA has been purportedly set aside.

A letter signed by his legal Counsel, Levi Shaapera Esq, Principal Counsel from LEIS LAW CLINIC reads: “To the contrary, we make bold to state that our client was meritorious promoted to the rank of professor of Governance and Public Policy in the Department of International Relations sequel to the recommendations of the Appointment and Promotions Committee for Academic Staff and unanimous approval by Airforce Institute of Technology, AFIT Govering Council with effect from July 1, 2019.The said deserved promotion has not been set aside by the appropriate authority and cannot be so done on the pages of newspapers without due process”.

The letter further reads: “Notice is hereby given to AFIT, Vintage Press Limited (publishers of THE NATION) and Media Trust Limited (Publishers of DAILY TRUST) to retract the libellous publications forthwith and severely tender unreserved apology to their client Prof.Tyoor Fredrick Terhemba with two days of this rejoinder in not less than five national dailies for consecutive three days, as failure of which their client shall be compelled to explore the legal remedies available to him under the extant laws”.
