The Central Bank of Nigeria has finally extended the deadline for the exchange of old naira notes by 10 days.
In a press statement issued on Sunday, Godwin Emefiele, the CBN governor, said the new deadline is February 10, 2023.
Emefiele says it has Buhari’s permission to effect the extension, adding that so far, CBN has collected 1.9 trillion and left with 900billion to achieve effective implementation of policy.
This is coming shortly after the apex bank Governor met with president Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, the presidents hometown.
