ENUGU: “We Love Sen. Ken Nnamani But He Doesn’t Have The Constitutional Powers To Summon A Meeting For The State – APC Group

As we await the Date for the fort coming ward, Local Government, State Congress and the National Convention of the All Progressives Congress APC, a lot moves, Consultations, alignment and realignment has taken effects especially in Enugu State.

A group known as APC leaders forum, has called on the leaders of the Party in the State, to jettison any action that could jeopardize the relative peace that the Party is enjoying now in the State, especially, those actions that are diametrical to the Party’s Constitution.

In a statement made by the Publicity Secretary of the Forum, Prof Ekwe Xistus, the Group posited that, more troubles are looming for the Party if the leaders didnot abdicate from calling unconstitutional meetings with resolutions that are tantamount to nullity.

He Stated that, top National leaders of the Party in Enugu State like, Distinguished Senator Ken Nnamani should always consult with the State caretaker committee chairman of the Party before embarking on any meeting, programs or activities on behalf of the Party.

According to the Statement, ” The APC Enugu Leaders forum are concerned about the longevity of the relative that we enjoy now in APC Enugu as a result of the fact that, genuine Party members have decided to sheath their swords and embrace peace.”

“We are seriously concerned that, some Leaders of the Party are consciously and subconsciously cooking up another fracas in the Party as a result of disrespect and disregard to the Constitution of the Party.”

“They have resorted to calling of meetings and making resolutions without proper Consultation to the State Party Leadership which is an appalling action as we wonders how a genuine Party member would be indulging on actions that has great potency to destroying the Party in the State.

Describing distinguished Senator Ken Nnamani as a hero of the current Nigerian Democracy, the Group also advised Senator Ken Nnamani not to be distracted by some unknown APC members but be guided by the constitution of the Party.

“Our most respected Leader, Sen Ken Nnamani who is also the caretaker committee chairman of the Party in South East should always be guided by the constitution of the Party and ensure that its stipulations on meetings are strictly adhered to.”

“He is undoubtedly the South East Caretaker Committee chairman but he is not The State caretaker committee chairman.”

“The Party has a way of doing things as enshrined in the constitution and did not stipulate anything called stakeholders, neither did it empower any body to call for a Party meeting at the state or National level outside the State and National Chairman”

“Our Leader should be aware that, in Abuja, there has never been a time that the President, Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives or even our National Leader, Sen Ahmed Bola Tinubu convened a meeting without doing it through the National Chairman, why then is this not done in Enugu State? “

” The constitution of the Party in the State recognised the State working committee, State Executive Committee or the State Caucus and any other body that summons for a meeting can only be regarded as an Entertainment meeting “

” We have respect for leader but his actions has to be guided by the constitution of the Party.”

“The meeting circular that has been flying round the state signed by our Leader’s personal Assistant is unconstitutional for the State, as we have the caretaker Publicity Secretary, caretaker Secretary and caretaker State chairman.”

“Our Leader Senator Ken Nnamani should have called for such meeting in the zone before they lavished millions of naira on our Party’s Zonal Office”

“We will honour his meeting but everybody should be aware that no resolution reached inside the meeting would be binding as we can only honour the directives of the state caretaker Executive committee chairman of the Party led by Barr Dr Ben Nwoye being the highest organ of the Party in the State.”

The Group however, warned that, actions that are incongruous to the constitution of the Party be avoided so as to avoid a scenario of what happened in Enugu North Senatorial zone of the Party on May 22nd.
