Enugu Rangers Crowned 2023/24 NPFL Champions
In a thrilling match on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu Rangers secured a 2-0 victory over Bendel Insurance, clinching their eighth Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title.
Goals from Agu Kenechukwu and Chidebere Nwobodo in the 33rd and 60th minutes respectively sealed the win for the Flying Antelopes. With this triumph, Enugu Rangers have accumulated 67 points, solidifying their position at the top of the table.
The outcome of today’s match, combined with losses suffered by Enyimba and Remo Stars against Sporting Lagos and Sunshine Stars respectively, confirms Enugu Rangers as the 2023/24 NPFL Champions.
This achievement not only marks a historic eighth title for the club but also earns them a spot in the 2024/25 CAF Champions League season. Meanwhile, the second spot will be contested among Remo Stars, Enyimba, and Shooting Stars.
For Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu, this victory marks his first NPFL winner’s medal, following previous stints with MFM and Plateau United. The Enugu Rangers’ triumph is a testament to their dedication and hard work throughout the season.
