The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has secured the final forfeiture of a massive estate in Abuja valued at several billion naira.

The estate, which spans 150,500 square meters and features 753 units of duplexes and other apartments, was allegedly acquired with proceeds of unlawful activities by a former top government official.

Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court granted the final forfeiture order in favor of the EFCC, paving the way for the estate to be transferred to the federal government.

This major breakthrough is the latest in a series of high-profile recoveries by the EFCC, and underscores the commission’s unwavering commitment to fighting corruption and recovering stolen assets.

EFCC Chairman Hails Ruling

The Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has welcomed the court’s ruling, describing it as a significant victory in the fight against corruption.

“This final forfeiture order is a testament to the EFCC’s tireless efforts to recover stolen assets and deny corrupt individuals the benefits of their ill-gotten gains,” Olukoyede said.

The EFCC has pledged to continue its aggressive pursuit of corrupt officials and the recovery of stolen assets, with a view to promoting transparency and accountability in Nigeria.

Nigerian Demand to Know The Name of The Top Government Official

The EFCC did not disclose the the name of the top government official who was involved in the case raising question about how corruption cases are handle by the agency and the government where influential corrupt elements are shielded while poor Nigerians are paraded without delay even when they have not been found guilty.
