Edo State: Gov Okpebholo Orders Full-Scale Investigation Into Killing of Seven in Uromi

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has condemned the brutal killing and burning of seven suspected kidnappers by a mob in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area, describing the act as “barbaric and unacceptable”. The Governor has vowed to bring those responsible to justice, emphasizing that such acts of jungle justice will not be tolerated under his administration.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the victims were discovered with firearms in a commercial truck, which triggered the mob attack. The Governor’s Chief Security Officer, SP Solomon Osaghale, has assured that a thorough investigation is underway, with over four persons already arrested in connection with the incident .
The Edo State Government has reiterated its commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring justice is served. The Governor has also urged residents to remain calm and has assured the Hausa community in Uromi of their safety, with security agencies deployed to restore peace and normalcy in the area .
