BONA NAIJAThe Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has confirmed an incident involving popular Nigerian musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as K1 De Ultimate, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
According to an official FAAN press release, the event took place on Tuesday, August 5, at the domestic terminal during boarding for a ValueJet Airlines flight (VK 201) bound for Lagos.
Preliminary investigations revealed that K1 De Ultimate attempted to bring an unidentified liquid substance on board the flight, despite multiple warnings from Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel and the flight captain. The liquid was later identified as alcohol, which violates international aviation safety regulations that prohibit carrying liquids exceeding 100ml through security unless properly declared and medically necessary.
The situation escalated when the musician allegedly refused to comply with further security clarification and spilled the contents of his flask on an airline security officer. Despite the intervention of the flight captain, the passenger reportedly resisted and later moved to the front of the aircraft, refusing to vacate the area even after boarding was complete.
He was eventually escorted off the aircraft by AVSEC’s crime unit for further questioning. He was later released.
FAAN has reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on any actions that compromise aviation security, regardless of an individual’s status. The Authority also emphasized that a thorough investigation is ongoing and anyone found guilty will face the full weight of the law.
FAAN reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and regulatory compliance at all Nigerian airports.
