Dangote Refinery Appoints Ex-Shell Executive as CEO

Dangote Refinery has appointed David Bird, a former Shell executive, as its new chief executive officer effective July 2025.

Bird, who previously led Oman’s Duqm refinery, will focus on boosting production and addressing challenges at the $20 billion facility in Lagos, Nigeria.

This move supports efforts to expand operations and enhance efficiency in Africa’s largest single-train refinery.
