Daily Times unveils new queen as Miss Nigeria emerges today

 After a rigorous process in the selection of the best contestants that deserves to be at the Miss Nigeria Pageant, the oldest of it all; The Daily Times, organizers of the event, will today, crown the new queen who will emerge as the 41st queen on the platform at a glamorous event at the Eko Hotel Convention Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The event is expected to attract important personalities from different walks of life, socialites, celebrities and media mogul amongst others as guests will be treated to a quality show at the end of the day.

Leading the trail of judges this year is Nollywood screen diva and philanthropist , Omotola Jalade Ekeinde alongside brilliant personalities that include Chioma Ude, Adebola Williams, Ishaya Bako, Adesua Wellington, Jumoke Adenowo, Joke Silva, Enyinna Nwigwe, Osepiribo Ben-Willie, Tara Fela-Durotoye, Noble Igwe, Julie Donli, Odio Oseni, Yemi Keri, Mariam Mohammed, and Ozinna Anumudu amongst others.

Hosted by TV Personality/Big Brother Naija Host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Bovi, Kemi Lala-Akindoju and Olive Emodi, the event which will also commemorate the 60th anniversary of Miss Nigeria brand will play host to past winners from the platform.

Speaking about the event, Chairman of Folio Media Group, publishers of The Daily Times Newspaper, Mr Fidelis Anosike, reiterated the commitment and focus of the pageant which showcases positive attributes of Nigerian women beyond beauty and physical appearance.

According to him, the contestants and eventual winner will portray exemplary qualities of women and serves as a role model for young women in the country.

The first edition of Beauty Pageant historically started in 1957 where the former Miss Grace Oyelude, a northerner from the present Kogi State by origin and by birth from old Kano State, represented the state and emerged as the overall winner, winning four cotton dresses and £200 amongst others.

But one of the distinctive qualities of the pageant is that it preaches unity and shuns display of nudity via bikini wears as organisers have zero tolerance for nudity.

Conscious efforts have also been put in place by the organisers to standardise the programme to unite the nation as an indivisible entity through inculcation of national virtues, pride, value and mores in the contestants.

Participation is not restricted to any faith or part of the country. Print Media veterans who had in the recent past administered the programme while in The Daily Times include former Ogun State Governor Segun Osoba, Chief Tony Momoh, Chief Onyema Ugochukwu and host of others who will grace today’s event.

As part of the surprise of the event, legendary musician, 2Baba, will be thrilling the guests alongside other musicians that include Mayorkun, Jennifer Eliogu and others.

It is instructive to note that the winner of the Miss Nigeria Pageant walks home with a brand new car, cash prize, a year accommodation and other luxury packages.
