Court Summons Yahaya Bello Over Alleged Criminal Breach of Trust

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja has issued a public summons to Yahaya Adoza Bello in connection with charges of criminal breach of trust and possession of unlawfully obtained property. The summons, issued by His Lordship, Hon. Justice Maryann E. Anenih, is in response to a complaint made on behalf of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

According to the court document, Yahaya Adoza Bello, along with two other individuals, Umar Shuaibu Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, is accused of committing offences between 2016 and 2023 that fall under the jurisdiction of the Abuja Judicial Division. The charges include a violation of Section 311 of the Penal Code Law, Cap. 89 Laws of Northern Nigeria, 1963, which pertains to criminal breach of trust.

The offence is punishable under Section 312 of the same law. Additionally, Bello is accused of having possession or control of property reasonably suspected to have been unlawfully obtained, contrary to Section 319A of the Penal Code Law.

The High Court has directed Yahaya Bello to appear before its judicial division, specifically at High Court No. 3 in Maitama, on November 14, 2024, at 9:00 a.m., to answer to the charges brought against him.
