The highly anticipated 2019 general election is around the corner and preparations are already ongoing.
The three major political parties to look out for in the upcoming poll are; All Progressive Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
The above political parties have given the price for the cost of expression of interest and nomination forms, and that is the focus of this post.
Is “Not too young to run” not yet another scam?
Looking at the recently released fees by the political parties, it is hard to see how young contestants are expected to via for post in the upcoming polls.
Truth be told, you are free to run under any political party, but a candidate who seeks victory, and not “showing up needs a strong political platform to run.
A glance at the below list of the cost of expression of interest and nomination forms of the three major political parties in Nigeria, it is hard to see how youths are expected to participate.
See list below;
APC | PDP | APGA | |
HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY | N1,100,000 | N600,000 | N1,000,000 |
HOUSE OF REPS | N3,800,000 | N1,500,000 | N2,500,000 |
SENATE | N 8,500,000 | N3,500,000 | N5,000,000 |
GOVERNOR | N22,000,000 | N6,000,000 | N10,000,000 |
PRESIDENT | N55,000,000 | N12,000,000 | N25,000,000 |
MY VIEWS:
The cost of expression of interest and nomination forms of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) is eye catchy, as it can chase away any young intending runner.
