The “Not Too Young To Run Movement” on Tuesday held a programme tagged Convergence 2.0 in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The event is a gathering of young elected legislators and it is themed Laeadership, Power and Politics.
Acccording to the organisers, “Convergence 2.0 presents an opportunity for the newly elected young lawmakers to reflect on Nigeria’s 20 years of democracy with a view to designing a new democratic and leadership model that promotes institutional reforms.”
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara was the keynote speaker at the event.
Dogara while addressing the participants said Nigerian youths are not just the leaders of tomorrow but also the today’s leaders.
“We refuse to see the Nigerian youths as merely the leaders of tomorrow but as people who are competent for today’s leadership.”
Other speakers at the event include Programs Manager of YIAGA Africa, Cynthia Mbamalu; Member, House of Representatives, Honourable Tony Nwulu; member, Lagos State House of Assembly, Desmond Elliot; Member, House of Representatives, Abdulmumin Jibrin, among others.
