Chelsea FC Sold, Read Full Club Statement
The biggest football club in London, Chelsea FC, has been sold to new owners, and this was confirmed in an official statement released by the club.
Chelsea FC has confirmed that the club now has been sold to new owners in an official statement released on social media platforms today, Saturday, May 7, 2022.
The Boehly-led consortium had been selected as the final and preferred buyer of the biggest club in London. Officially, the Roman Abramovich-led era has formally come to an end for the blues, and the club would miss the Russian.
Chelsea Football Club can confirm that terms have been agreed for a new ownership group, led by Todd Boehly, Clearlake Capital, Mark Walter and Hansjoerg Wyss, to acquire the Club.Of the total investment being made, £2.5bn will be applied to purchase the shares in the Club and such proceeds will be deposited into a frozen UK bank account with the intention to donate 100% to charitable causes as confirmed by Roman Abramovich. UK Government approval will be required for the proceeds to be transferred from the frozen UK bank account.
In addition, the proposed new owners will commit £1.75bn in further investment for the benefit of the Club. This includes investments inStamford Bridge, the Academy, the Women’s Team and Kingsmeadow and continued funding for the Chelsea Foundation.
The sale is expected to complete in late May subject to all necessary regulatory approvals. More details will be provided at that time.

Lionel Messi Extends Inter Miami Contract to 2028
Lionel Messi has officially signed a three-year contract extension with Inter Miami CF, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2028 MLS season. The renewal ensures that the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner will continue his remarkable journey in the United States, extending his influence both on and off the pitch.
Since joining Inter Miami in 2023, Messi has scored 71 goals and provided 44 assists in 82 appearances, leading the club to its first major trophies — the 2023 Leagues Cup and the 2024 Supporters’ Shield. His performances have transformed Inter Miami into one of the most watched and commercially successful teams in Major League Soccer history.
Speaking after signing the new deal, Messi expressed his excitement about continuing the club’s long-term project and said he looks forward to debuting at the new Miami Freedom Park stadium, which opens in 2026.
“I’m proud of what we’ve achieved so far, but there’s so much more to come. Miami feels like home, and I’m excited about the future of this team and this city,” said Messi.
Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham praised Messi’s professionalism and leadership, describing him as “the heartbeat of our club,” while MLS Commissioner Don Garber hailed his continued presence as a “transformative moment for American soccer.”
Messi’s new contract is expected to include ambassadorial roles within the club and the league, ensuring his legacy extends well beyond his playing career.
