BONA NAIJAUkraine has fired US-made ATACMS missiles into Russian territory, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict. The missiles were launched at a facility in Russia’s Bryansk region, with Russian air defenses intercepting five of the six missiles fired.
The attack comes after US President Joe Biden’s administration gave Ukraine approval to use the longer-range weapons against targets inside Russian territory. This move ends a months-long restriction aimed at preventing further escalation of the conflict.
In response to the attack, Russian President Vladimir Putin has updated Russia’s nuclear doctrine, considering any aggression from a non-nuclear state backed by a nuclear power as a “joint attack” on Russia.
