The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the appointment of Alhaji Yayari Ahmed Mohammed as its new Acting National Chairman.
This development comes on the heels of the suspension of Ambassador Illiya Damagum, the previous Acting National Chairman.
According to Hon. Debo Ologunagba, National Publicity Secretary, Mohammed’s appointment takes immediate effect, as stipulated by the PDP’s amended constitution of 2017. The National Working Committee (NWC) has urged all party organs, leaders, and members to remain focused, especially with the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for October 24, 2024.
The appointment is seen as a strategic move amidst the ongoing crisis within the party. The PDP has been grappling with internal conflicts, with various factions vying for control. The NEC meeting is expected to address these issues and chart a new course for the party.
