BREAKING: Customs Deputy Comptroller Slumps, Dies at National Assembly

In a tragic incident, Essien Andrew, a deputy comptroller of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), collapsed and died on Tuesday while being questioned by the House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts.

Death at the National Assembly

Mr. Andrew, who was responsible for Finance, Administration, and Technical Service at the NCS, was responding to questions about the Service’s revenue when he suddenly coughed and requested water. Before he could receive assistance, he collapsed and was rushed to the National Assembly Clinic, where he was pronounced dead.

Akin Rotimi, the spokesperson for the House of Representatives, confirmed Mr. Andrew’s passing in a statement, stating that the officer experienced unexpected health complications during his interaction with lawmakers. Despite the best efforts of first responders and medical personnel at the National Assembly clinic, he sadly passed away.
