BONA NAIJAThe remains of former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari have departed London, United Kingdom, for his hometown of Daura in Katsina State, where he will be laid to rest with full state honours.
According to official sources, the late president’s body is being transported aboard a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) aircraft, in line with established protocols for state burials of former heads of state.
Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s military ruler from 1983 to 1985 and as a democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023, passed away in London after a brief illness. His death triggered an outpouring of condolences from global leaders and citizens across Nigeria.
Preparations are currently underway in Daura for a solemn state burial ceremony, expected to be attended by top dignitaries, military officials, and foreign representatives.
