#Ballondor: Cristiano Ronaldo Reportedly Snubs Ballon D’Or Ceremony

Manchester United’s forward, Cristiano Ronaldo will not be at this year’s Ballon D’Or award ceremony which will be held in Paris on Monday, November 29th, 2021.

A Portuguese journalist, Pedro Sepuiveda, who is present at the venue of the ceremony, confirmed the news on his official Twitter account. According to the report, the 36-year-old will not be at the Theatre du Chatelet.

This is the first time Ronaldo will not finish on the podium in the France Football award since 2007.

Ronaldo has not really gotten himself a shout for the award despite winning the top goalscorer’s award in the Serie A and emerging as the highest goal scorer at the just concluded Euro 2020. The 36-year-old has been in excellent form since he joined the Red Devils, finding the back of the net nine (9) times across all competitions.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Lionel Messi and Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski are favorites to win the award when the winner is announced at the venue later today.

Meanwhile a post Ronaldo made on his verified facebook page reads;

It is unacceptable that the responsible for awarding such a prestigious award should lie like this, in absolute disrespect for someone who has always respected France Football and the Golden Ball. And lied again today justifying my absence from the Gala with an alleged quarantine that has no reason to be.

I always wish congratulations to those who win, within sports and fair play that have guided my career from the beginning, and I do so because I’m never against anyone. I always win for myself and the clubs I represent, I win for myself and those who want me well. I don’t win against anyone.
