He was declared unfit to contest in the exercise to choose the APC’s flagbearer along with two others by the party’s Screening Committee.
Jonathan Ayuba, Chairman of the screening committee, said this while presenting his report to Adams Oshiomhole, APC National Chairman, at the national secretariat in Abuja on Friday.
He was disqualified over irregularities in credentials, anti-party activities and irreconcilable differences. Apart from Obaseki, the two other disqualified aspirants are Chris Ogiemwonyi and Mathew Iduoriyekenwen.
Chairman of the panel, Prof. Jonathan Ayuba, while presenting the report explained that Obaseki was disqualified because the committee could not vouch for the authenticity of the Higher School Certificate he claimed but could not produce. The committee held that the document he produced only attested to his attendance.
Meanwhile Obaseki has vowed not to appeal his disqualification.
The Governor, in a statement by his media aide, Crusoe Osagie, said it was futile appealing when the National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole has allegedly orchestrated the move from the beginning.
