BONA NAIJANatasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, a senator representing Kogi central, has made some serious allegations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
She claims that Akpabio has been making suggestive and lewd comments towards her, both in and out of the senate chamber. Some examples she gave include Akpabio saying her waist would make “good movements” and asking if not wearing her ring was “an invitation to treat”.
These allegations come after Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended from the senate on March 6 for “gross misconduct and unruly behaviour” following a seating arrangement altercation with Akpabio.

However, Akpoti-Uduaghan believes her suspension was just a way to silence her after she submitted a sexual harassment petition against Akpabio.
Akpabio has denied all allegations, stating that he has the “highest regard for women” and was raised by a single mother. The senate’s deputy chief whip, Onyekachi Nwaebonyi, has also come to Akpabio’s defence, saying that Akpoti-Uduaghan’s claims are untrue.
It’s worth noting that Akpabio did apologize to Akpoti-Uduaghan for a separate incident where he made a sexist comment, saying that women are not just objects for men’s pleasure.
