Abia State Speaker Condemns Tragic Attack on Police, Civilians in Aba

Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ihuoma Emeruwa, Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, has strongly condemned the tragic event that occurred on July 21, 2024, at Ngwa Road, Aba, where armed men attacked police operatives, resulting in the loss of lives.
In a statement, the Speaker expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, including Inspector Shehu Oyibo, Chika Godliveth, Onyenaturuchi Jonah, and Eniobong Godsgift Clement. He also extended his condolences to the Nigerian Police Force and the Abia State Commissioner for Police for the loss of one of their own.
The Speaker urged the people of Aba to remain calm and go about their normal business, assuring them that the government is working hard to ensure maximum security and protect lives and properties. He assured residents that the authorities are taking necessary steps to prevent such incidents in the future.

Rt. Hon. Emeruwa described the senseless act of violence as unacceptable and called on the perpetrators to lay down their arms and embrace peace. He emphasized the need for the community to work together to build a safer and more secure environment for all.
“I strongly condemn the tragic event that occurred earlier today the 21st of July, 2024 at Ngwa road, Aba, where armed men attacked police operatives, resulting in the loss of lives of a police officer, Inspector Shehu Oyibo, and three civilians, Chika Godliveth, Onyenaturuchi Jonah, and Eniobong Godsgift Clement.
My heartfelt condolences go out to the families of the victims, may they find strength and comfort in this difficult time.
I also extend my condolences to the Nigerian Police Force, led by the Inspector General of Police, and the Abia State Commissioner for Police, for the loss of one of their own.
