Governor Otti described the airport project as a “landmark initiative” that will boost economic activities and establish Abia as a vital hub in the West African sub-region.

The airport, which will span 1,325.86 hectares of land acquired from nine communities in Nsulu and Nkosi, will feature a 2.8 km Type 4D runway, with provision for further upgrade to a Type 4E runway.

Minister of Aviation, Mr. Festus Keyamo, emphasized the need for Nsulu indigenes to be given priority in employment opportunities at the airport.

The project, a collaborative effort between the Federal Government and the Abia State Government, is expected to serve as a catalyst for economic growth, fostering trade, investment, and tourism in the region.

Governor Otti reassured the host communities of fair compensation for their lands and commended their cooperation.

The event was also attended by the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Emmanuel Emeruwa; Chief Judge of Abia State, Justice Lilian Agbai; commissioners; and members of the State House of Assembly.
