11 Reportedly Killed In Fresh Benue Attack

At least 11 people have been reportedly killed in a fresh attack by gunmen on some communities of Nyiev-ya, the Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State. The attack occurred on Christmas Day, December 25, when the people were celebrating with their families.

According to eyewitnesses, the attackers, described as terrorist herders, invaded Ubutu and GSS Anwase, killing and burning houses. The President General of Mzough U Tiv, CP Iorbee Ihagh (retired), confirmed the attack, describing it as unprovoked. Another native, Solomon Amande, also confirmed the death of 11 persons, attributing the killings to a combined team of armed herders and militia groups.

The Benue State Police Command has yet to react to the latest attack. When contacted, the Command’s spokesperson, Sewuese Anene, said she had no information on the incident.
